Wednesday 3/17/2010 Hike -- New hike in Savage Gulf

Savage Gulf history hike, Savage Gulf State Natural Area, Beersheba Springs, TN. About 7-8 miles. We will descend into the gulf 800-1000 feet through the Stone Door, and then follow the connector trail to its intersection with the historic Stagecoach Road, visiting the Cator Savage Cabin along the way. We will follow the Stagecoach Road to the site of the Savage Gulf school and cemetary. From there it is a relatively easy one hour walk back to Highway 56 at the bottom of Beersheba mountain. A shuttle is required. Gas reimbursement is $7. Departure time is 6:45am from Tractor Supply. We will stop at the Uplands to pickup Plesant Hills hikers.
