Hike is on, although there is rain/thunderstorms in the forecast starting around noon. Bring your raincoat in case it happens before we finish around 2:00pm.
Wednesday's hike will depart from the Welch's Point trailhead and descend into the Caney Fork valley, mostly on rough, rocky abandoned road beds. Some bushwhacking will be required although the brush may not be too thick this time of year. We'll pass nice rockhouses, overlooks of the Caney Fork and a few small waterfalls. The hike is 8 mi and rated strenuous due to bad footing, some rock scrambling and the steep climb returning to the cars. Depart at Tractor Supply at 7:45am CT. Figure $4 for gas. Photos: Cheryl
