Bills Harris and Eldridge, Ginger and Jim scouted two hikes departing from the Cherohala Skyway last Tuesday. The hikes were 2.5 mi each and we stopped at Bald River Falls on the way back. The Skyway runs east from Tellico Plains, 2.5 hrs of driving to the trailheads, so it's a long way to go for 5 mi of hiking. But, it is probably worth it during the azelia season in June. It's a good opportunity to see lots of mountains and azelia covered balds which we don't see around here. in addition it should be cooler than the plateau since the elevations are over 5k ft. Here are links to Ginger, Bill and Jim's photos.
