Wednesday, December 14, 2016, Hike -- Scenic Coal Mining Hike and Burgess Falls

We have been given permission to do a moderate 4 mile hike on private property off the Sparta Highway in White County. This hike has some great bluffs, waterfalls, coal mines, tipples, and coal mining history. Next we will carpool to Burgess Falls SP. At Burgess Falls there will be a 1.5-mile round-trip moderately strenuous hike to see four waterfalls on the Falling Water River. The waterfalls are 20' cascades, 30' upper falls, 80' middle falls, and 136' lower falls in height.  Depart Tractor Supply at 8:00 am CT. Carpool cost $4. Photos: Pat1, Pat2, Pat3
